1. Who We Are

PC Madness ("we", "us", "our") operates midlandpcrepair.com.au and provides computer repair, data recovery, and IT support services from our workshop at:

PC Madness
2C Stafford Street, Midland WA 6056
Phone: 08 9250 4554
Email: sales@pcmadness.com.au

2. What Information We Collect

We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it. This includes:

  • Contact details — name, phone number, email address when you use our contact or booking form
  • Device information — make, model, and fault description when you bring a device in for repair
  • Payment information — processed securely through our payment provider; we do not store card details
  • Communications — records of emails or messages you send us
  • Website usage data — anonymised analytics (pages visited, browser type, referral source) via Google Analytics
  • Newsletter and loyalty sign-ups — your email address, and your name and phone number if you join the loyalty program, when you submit the sign-up form in the site footer or on the loyalty page. This is optional and separate from a repair booking.

We do not collect sensitive personal information (such as health data or financial account details) beyond what is strictly required to complete a repair.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and complete the repair service you requested
  • Contact you regarding your booking, repair status, or quote
  • Send you a receipt or warranty documentation
  • Respond to enquiries or support requests
  • Improve our website and services (using anonymised analytics)
  • Send you our newsletter or loyalty-program offers, but only if you signed up for them — every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect any repair we are doing for you
  • Meet legal and compliance obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Your Data on Devices Left for Repair

When you hand us a device, it may contain personal data such as photos, documents, passwords, and files. We treat all data on customer devices with strict confidentiality:

  • We access data only as necessary to diagnose and repair the fault
  • We never copy, share, or use your personal files for any other purpose
  • We recommend you back up your data before any repair — we are not liable for data loss unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing
  • If a repair requires a full reinstall, we will advise you before proceeding

5. Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses cookies to improve your browsing experience. We use:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g. form security tokens)
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (anonymised IP addresses)
  • Anti-spam — Cloudflare Turnstile runs on every page with a form and may store a short-lived token in your browser. It exists solely to tell a person from a bot; it does not track you across sites.
  • Embedded content — pages showing our location embed a Google Map, and Google may set its own cookies when that map loads.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.

6. How We Store & Protect Your Information

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. This includes:

  • Secure, password-protected systems for storing customer records
  • HTTPS encryption on our website
  • Limiting access to personal data to staff who need it to perform their role

We retain customer records for up to 7 years for warranty and accounting purposes, after which they are securely deleted.

7. Third Parties

We may share your information with trusted third parties only where necessary:

  • Payment processors — to process transactions securely
  • Email providers — to send booking confirmations and receipts
  • Google Analytics — anonymised website usage data
  • Cloudflare — the Turnstile anti-spam check on our forms; it receives your IP address and browser information to verify you are not a bot
  • Google — Google Maps for the embedded map on our contact and location pages, and Google Business Profile for the customer reviews we display
  • Law enforcement — if required by law or to protect our legal rights

All third parties are required to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

8. Your Rights

Under Australian Privacy Law (Privacy Act 1988), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Opt out of any marketing communications
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sales@pcmadness.com.au or call 08 9250 4554.

9. Links to Other Websites

Our site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies independently.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
